Pak Tino Sidin, one of the memorable figures for Indonesian children.
Pak Tino Sidin is an educational artist, with a natural expressive style who comes from Yogyakarta.
He was born in Tebing Tinggi, North Sumatra on November 25 1925. He was a pujakusuma, namely a Javanese son born in Sumatra. He acquired his skills in painting and drawing autodidactically, and then he studied at the Indonesian Academy of Fine Arts (ASRI) in 1960-1963.
He is known for his "Love to Draw" program on the TVRI television station. This event is a drawing appreciation event for children.
Pak Tino Sidin's slogan, which is most known from the past until now, is "Yes, good!" , it's easy to remember and he always says it when hosting events and teaching drawing.
At the age of 20, he started his career in the world of art by becoming a drawing teacher in Yogyakarta.
Over time, Mr. Tino's career increasingly took off when in the 1980s he appeared on a TVRI program entitled "Love to Draw". Not only is he a teacher, Tino Sidin has also produced many paintings. His works can be enjoyed in his former house which has now been converted into a museum called Taman Tino Sidin. Among his students, Tino Sidin is a legendary teacher. Djaduk Ferianto, an artist who once studied with Tino Sidin, said that his teacher's way of teaching was exactly like the teaching style of Taman Siswa College. Djaduk said that by mentoring children, Tino encourages them to find freedom in imagination and expression.
Tino Sidin died on December 29 1995. However, before he died, there was one dream he had that had not been realized, namely to build an art studio which would be called "Tano Sidin Park".
